I first came across Spiral when I did my certificate 4 in disability and my placement at Spiral.
My role was to help setup their inclusive communities program. We had an open day where Spiral could showcase everyone’s talents and abilities. We had things like yoga, fitness and meditation. It was a big success.
I then had a break from Spiral for a year. When I came back as a volunteer, my role included reviewing service users individual plans and making sure they were in line with the service users goals and aspirations.
Recently, I have been switched to an assistant communications officer role, working beside Jasmine Bethell, which has been a fun and exciting experience.
My role includes helping apply for grants, investigating different fundraising opportunities, creating different flyers and promotion material and making phone calls. I help Spiral with marketing research, for example, checking what other businesses are doing to promote their business and reporting the information back to the communications officer (Jasmine).
I also enjoy coming into the office and interacting with the Spiral team. I find the office environment very relaxing and easy going.
I have an assistance dog named Stella that keeps me busy when I am not at work. She is very entertaining. I live in my own two bedroom unit in Maroochydore, which is close to the shops and the beach.
When I am not working, I enjoy meditation, and I visit the Buddhism temple once a week.
