My name is Alison Miller-McLeod and I am working as a marketing volunteer at Spiral. I have had previous experience in advertising and marketing and used to have my own business in Brisbane and now I volunteer some of my time and skills at Spiral.

My favourite colours are pink, silver and purple and when I’m not volunteering at Spiral I love to go out to lunch, go shopping, have massages, go to the movies and get my hair done.

My favourite foods are roast duck, Turkish food and sushi. My mum, dad, brother and Tinkerbell, my tortoiseshell cat, are most important to me but my friend Bill is most inspirational.

I began working at Spiral, as a marketing volunteer in March 2015 and I volunteer each Wednesday for a few hours, sometimes more, if there are any administrative tasks that need to be completed.

I work in a team environment in the office and I am closely supported in my role, by Jasmine Bethell, the communications officer and other support staff.

My role is quite varied and includes inquiring about grants, organising promotional materials for new service users and preparing induction packs, assisting with the design of Spiral information brochures and flyers and working behind the scenes for fundraising events.

I have also been involved in assisting with the organisation of the art competition and sourcing venues for the cent auction. I am currently assisting with the development of Spiral’s national disability marketing plan and Spiral’s 35th anniversary booklet.
